The Movie Overdose Presents: Stalker

mod presents

There have been a few times when Tom and I have wondered how easy it must be to make a film these days. Quite often we can have little brainstorming sessions wherein we create masterpiece after masterpiece so we decided to start sharing these little exchanges. Starting from today The Movie Overdose is proud to present a new series of articles that will give you a glimpse into the wonderful world of two of potentially the most awful film producers ever…

This week we present to you a bold re-imagining of Andrei Tarkovsky’s seminal science fiction masterpiece, Stalker.

Tom:  still could have done with a bullet-time gun battle with aliens at the end

Round-Up: Baron Cohen For Eurovision

Sacha Baron Cohen

Sasha Baron Cohen’s next project will, according to The Sun, be another mockumentary about character trying to enter the Eurovision song contest. I would love to see him walk away from that style as Borat and Bruno were too hit-and-miss for my tastes. Isn’t this well dry?

Terminator Salvation/Avatar duffer Sam Worthington is in talks to star in The Tourist, alongside Charlize Theron.

Hugh Jackman is going to star in The Greatest Showman on Earth, a biopic of PT Barnum.

Carla Gugino is to reteam with Watchmen director Zack Snyder on his Sucker Punch.

Trailer for The Road

The trailer has shown up for The Road, the John Hillcoat-directed adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy masterpiece. The film, starring Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron and the always great Garrett Dillahunt, has been much-delayed but is now due to hit cinemas in the US at the end of this year and probably the UK a few months later.

The trailer, for those who have read the book, seems to play up a great deal of action which always seemed more implied than explored. The book is much more a study of a post-apocalyptic landscape and the relationship between father and son roaming the empty planet. I’m not sure I completely dig that feel but, with amazing source material, a superb cast (including The Wire’s Michael K Williams) and director (of The Proposition) and assurances from Esquire’s Tom Chiarella of its importance, I’m willing to put my trust in the production for the time-being. Check out the trailer below.
